Disney and French Woods are teaming up to develop three new Disney titles this summer!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

These shows have never been performed before and French Woods has been asked to help develop the shows before they are released to the public.

Our staff will be working on these shows with the help of the Disney Theatrical Productions development team. Disney staff will be attending the performances of the shows as well as working directly with French Woods campers and staff.

Disney’s Winnie the Pooh is being developed in session 3 for 7-11 year olds:
Deep in the Hundred-Acre Wood… Pooh, Piglet, Owl, Rabbit, Tigger, Kanga, Roo and Eeyore are on a mission to rescue Christopher Robin from the dreaded Backson! This new musical for young performers includes classic songs like “Winnie the Pooh” and “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers” as well as three new songs from the upcoming animated feature film, Winnie the Pooh (2011).

Disney’s Little Mermaid JR, being developed for 11-14 year olds in session 4:
More than anything, the young mermaid Ariel wants to be part of the human world above, but her father, King Triton, will allow nothing of the sort. When Ariel trades her voice for a pair of legs, she has only three days to get Prince Eric to kiss her or she becomes the Sea Witch’s slave forever! This thrilling and touching ocean adventure for young performers features all of the songs from the 1989 animated feature (including “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl”) as well as two new songs from the 2008 Broadway musical.

Disney’s Camp Rock: The Musical is being developed for 11 – 17 year olds in session 2 based on the Disney Channel movie as well as the new movie that will be released in the fall.
This summer was supposed to be about relaxing, enjoying their music, and getting to know each other better. But with Camp Star across the lake threatening Camp Rock’s very existence, Mitchie and Shane must spend every waking moment getting the young campers into top shape for the final jam! This new musical based on the Disney Channel hit movies Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2 celebrates making music, overcoming obstacles, and fostering friendships.

News from Bruce Bider

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Hi Ron, Beth and Isaac and the whole French Woods crew.

I can’t believe the school year is almost over (where did it go?) and summer begins next month, but I am really looking forward to it! Hope all is well and that you have a great opening and session 1.

I wanted to say a great big “Thanks” to Ron for enabling me to get to know Thoroughly Modern Millie from the “inside” … as you know, I ended up choosing it for my high school musical this year, with former campers Melissa Smith as Muzzy and Brittany Jakubowitz as Miss Flannery.

We were honored to have in our audience, at my invitation, the esteemed theatre journalist Peter Filichia, of Theatermania.com and the Newark Star-Ledger; Tony voter and author of my favorite “trade” book Let’s Put on a Musical: How to Choose the Right Show For Your School, Community or Professional Theater. I hope you will permit me to share with you Peter’s incredibly gratifying words, which appeared in his April column

So thanks again, Ron, for providing the inspiration to make it happen!

See you soon –

Best regards,
Bruce
