Theater
This summer our theater department was more exciting than ever. Our theater classes were varied and unique giving campers the opportunity to work on all aspects of theater including performing, set design, technical theater and everything in between. We created more than 60 shows across the summer as we welcomed families and friends to our festival days. We performed favorite musicals along with many new French Woods premiers and even some amateur world premiers across all camp age groups. Some of our premiers included Rats, Fancy Nancy, Dreamland, Goosebumps, Let It Be, Significant Other, Wilderness, Girl Band, Be More Chill and The Prom. We cannot wait to see what 2023 has in store for French Woods theater!

Costumes
From the students in our classes to the apprentices who worked on the shows, thank you so much for creating with us! We had a blast getting to know you, thanks for being "sew" great.

Music
What a fantastic summer of music making we had here at French Woods. From our visit by the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras to our concert with French Woods Alumni Jason Robert Brown and Jesse Nager, we made some terrific music and created some lasting memories for all of our campers and staff. We are excited to announce the return of Steven Reineke to French Woods next summer and our guest vocalist will be announced soon. A new Piano Lab will be added to the music building and we are working on some upgrades to the practice rooms and the downstairs rehearsal spaces. We are looking forward to next summer!

Circus 
This summer the campers and staff truly gave their all. Each day they found new ways to raise the bar. I hope that you are able to take this same mentality into your life away from French Woods and I cannot wait to be reunited once again.

Waterfront
This summer was great and so busy everyday! Having everyone coming down to waterfront and the pool this summer was brilliant. From beavers eating boats, the lake flooding, a brand new boat, tube flipping and the new s'mores area, this summer was full of way too much fun! We loved seeing  all of you learning new water sports skills, showing off your Ski show skills, and everyone that learned how to swim this summer - campers and counselors alike. Shoutout to all the amazing CIT's that helped in the department! Farrah, Gabe, Brody, Karly, Lorenzo, Laila, Zack, Nora, Molly, Matteo, Sam, and of course Sarah! Start getting excited for summer of 2023; it's gonna be even busier and better! Lots of love from Billy-Ray, Big Ben, and the rest of the waterfront team!

Cooking
I am so proud to have seen all of the kids learn so much, cook and bake their hearts out, and of course give their all during Chopped!! I hope you ALL take what you learned here and fearlessly cook for your friends and family!  Follow @ FWF_CCRecipesLove ya!

Fine Arts
This has been an extra special year to see smiles and share hugs and spread joy at Frenchwoods. Along with our recurring favorites, we loved our new classes in Stained Glass, Murals, Character Illustration, Impressionism, Wire Jewelry and even Dungeons & Dragons. We hope that everyone can return next summer!

Dance
The Dance Department had a busy summer filled with creativity, teamwork and dedication. Dance classes and choreography in an environment always looking to get the best from our campers as they improve their craft and have fun! 

Film
We had such an amazing summer in Film! Our campers produced scores of short films. We will be sending out the links soon to each session's film festival. Can't wait to see you next summer and make more films with you all!

Magic
Lots of fun in the Magic Department this year -- cards, coins, ropes, balloons... and of course, Trick of the Day with the introduction of Junior Magic for our youngest campers. Next summer will be even better and more amazing!

Skatepark
It’s been fabulous seeing everyone come with a lot of determination and enthusiasm to learn so much more than they thought they could. I hope you all continue to practice what you learned and hope to see you all next year!

Rock Shop
This summer at Rock Shop over 150 different bands got to perform together on a stage. We feel honored to have had the chance to make music with so many talented and hard-working people! Hope to see you all next year!

Horseback
Another incredible summer in the books and from my view, this was one of the best ones ever - largely owing to Team Horseback, and especially all the kids who made the barn their second home! Please keep in touch via our Instagram, @fwfhorseback - check there too for any updates on our four-legged family. Brumby, Spirit, and Hamilton (and the rest of the horses) look forward to seeing you next year as much as I do! Love, Cat

Ropes
Project Adventure helped empower an amazing group of kids with courage that reached the Sky and beyond! Big shout out to all the staff who made this happen! Thank you and hope to see you all again next year!

Sports
The Campers worked hard and dedicated themselves all summer to improving their skills and having lots of fun while doing it. SPORTS!

Fitness
From the entire Fitness Center staff to you, we hope you all had an awesome and motivating summer. Hopefully the soreness has passed but the memories remain! We all enjoyed having you spend time at the gym and allowed us to keep you safe and engaged. So...stay safe and stay motivated.

Tennis
We welcomed back Coach John from India as our Head of Tennis this summer and were excited to have Susana Testi from Rome return to us after a 3 year hiatus. Camper tournaments, Camper/Counselor Tournaments, hundreds of  private lessons and clinics and fitness when it rained! A big thank you to our small but mighty tennis counselor team and our fabulous Tennis CIT's. Tennis is a lifetime sport and we are looking forward to a much larger tennis staff and much bigger program in 2023.  See you next year.

Kitchen
The kitchen and dining room staff had such a great summer this year! We always work hard... but knowing how much everyone enjoyed the meals certainly makes it all worthwhile. 

Program Office & HFWAA
Majors and Minors, Race for the Arts, sooo many parties, arrivals and departures, the CIT Retreat, more parties, and seeing the campers everyday kept the 2022 Program Office motivated, excited and  busy. A special thank you to our Program Office CIT's. You know who you are! Looking forward to seeing you in 2023.

Head Counselors
The Head Counselors  have such amazing memories: talent shows, dances, gaga ball, Brain Wars, Sing, Banquet, Bunk Bonding, Photo runs -  too many great events to name! It was so wonderful to get to know so many campers and we can’t wait to see everyone again next year!  Please keep in touch.

Session 5 has become another awesome French Woods tradition that gives mostly new and also returning campers the chance to experience a short time away from home, participating in performing arts and traditional camp activities with the feeling of success that comes from both. Upon arrival day on Sunday, we 'hit the ground running' as the campers sign up for programming that begins first thing Monday morning. With 5 days of program and then it is
Saturday - Visiting Day - where families can see all that was accomplished by their campers. So much fun!

Lost items that were labeled with the camper’s complete names have been sent out. All other nonlabeled items have been donated to charity. We have a few valuables we took back to the winter office including unlabeled eyeglasses, phones, jewelry, retainers and wallets. Gabriel Lafazan was cast as one of the two Gavroche’s in the 2022 US National tour of Les Miserables. He is currently rehearsing in NYC and will be touring from late Sept through April 2023.

Cat Smith will be appearing in a GeekLifeRules cabaret at the Producers Club on October 5th and at the French Woods Cabaret at 54 Below on November 11th both in NYC.

Our own Magic Larry is available for your special celebrations and parties! Birthdays, B'nai-Mitzvahs, Sweet 16's... and adult events as well. Larry's comedy magic will keep your guests guessing between the laughs, while involving them in a unique and personal form of entertainment. His Strolling Close-Up Magic is perfect for cocktail hours and corporate events. Want to really blow the minds of your guests? Be sure to ask about his new Interactive Magic!
