All families must fill out our Transportation Form online through CampInTouch so that we know exactly how your child will arrive at camp and depart from camp. This includes dropping off or picking up your camper using your own transportation. Children arriving by car should arrive at camp after 11am and before 5 pm.
Complimentary bus service to camp is provided for all campers from Newark Airport, New York (Queens, Manhattan and Purchase), Philadelphia and Framingham Massachusetts. Except for Manhattan - Buses depart at 12 noon. Manhattan departs at 1:30 pm. All campers need to arrive one-half hour earlier than scheduled departure time.
At the end of the camp session, all departing campers leave by 9am on the day of departure, but typically, many campers will leave camp with their parents on the evening before - after their last performance and do not use our bus transportation to go home. For all campers (except those traveling by air), there will be a $25.00 non-refundable fee to reserve a space on a returning bus if you choose to use our transportation home. Campers using the bus service home will arrive at approximately 12 noon at their bus drop off location. Please sign up for the bus on a timely basis so we are sure to have room.
The safety of your child is our first priority. This is the most important driving force in all of the arrangements we make for your child. We request that all campers fly into Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Newark is the largest airport most convenient to camp. Newark’s main airline is United Airlines and it offers the most non-stop flights to more destinations than any other airline that serves Newark. Currently United is part of the Star Alliance Network.
**Unaccompanied Minors are children deemed by the airlines as too young to travel without an adult. (Please contact the airline for specific age requirements and fees.) The airline will require that one of our camp employees obtain a security pass to meet your unaccompanied minor at the gate. This program ensures the safe transfer of your child for both incoming and outgoing flights. Parents are asked to pay the required fee for both incoming and outgoing flights at the original departure destination.
We will email you the name of the staff member who is meeting your child’s flight 48 hours prior to departure. When your camper arrives, a French Woods Staff Member will welcome them and escort them to baggage claim and onward to the awaiting chartered motorcoaches. A brief call from your child will let you know of their safe arrival.
Campers over the age of 15 (depending on airline rules) traveling independently will be met at the Baggage Claim Area of the assigned flight. The staff person will be wearing a French Woods staff shirt and holding up a French Woods sign. We encourage campers traveling alone to have a cell phone.
Again we remind you to fill out the transportation web-based form through your CampInTouch account online. Be sure to include all confirmation numbers.
For those campers using bus service, luggage can either be brought on the bus or shipped in advance. No more than two pieces of luggage, musical instruments, and sports equipment. See our Packing List for more information.
For those campers flying to camp you can either put the luggage on the plane or ship it to camp.
We have set up a relationship with Camp Shippers (www.campshippers.com) They are very attentive to the needs of the campers and provide an efficient luggage shipping service. If you still choose to ship yourself, please make sure you put your child’s name on the boxes. The luggage will be stored and delivered once your child arrives at camp.
Please be sure to specify how your child’s luggage will be getting to camp on the Transportation Form located on your personal Dashboard through CampInTouch
